Everything Announced at Nintendo Direct September 2021

Nintendo surprised all of us yesterday by announcing that we would be getting a 40 minute Nintendo Direct talking about the upcoming winter releases for Switch. Although we are disappointed that we did not get the final Smash character announcement (it will be announced October 5th at 10:00 a.m. ET) or even Animal Crossing news (Animal Crossing will get its own direct in October), we did get news on the N64 emulator and a look at Splatoon 3 and Bayonetta 3 as well as some other smaller projects. Here is everything showcased at the event:

Monster Hunter: Rise will be a massive paid expansion adding new stories, locals, monsters, questlines, and hunting actions. All of this will be arriving in the Summer of 2022. And on the note of DLC, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will be getting new content on October 29. Kooba Troopa and Ninji as well as two new courses will be released today in an update for Mario Golf: Super Rush.

Voice of Cards is a new tabletop card RPG game that will tell a story in a new fashion. A playable demo of the game will be available today.

Chocobo GP is a Final Fantasy-styled Mario Kart game. The gameplay showed that characters will have special abilities and it will play and look exactly like Mario Kart.

The leaks on the eShop that said that a new open-world 3D Kirby game was going to be revealed for the Switch today were true. Kirby and The Forgotten land was announced and will be released in the Spring of 2022.

Dying Light: Platinum Edition is a remake of the original game that is now playable on the Switch to get players ready for the release of the second game in the series. There will be a free demo for Dying Light 2 as well on the release date, February 4th, 2022.

Expansion pack announced for the online membership meaning that you will have to pay an additional fee on top of your already existing members to have access to the new Nintendo 64 and Sega collection of games. New Nintendo 64 and Sega controllers will also be available for purchase for current Nintendo Online members for $49.99.

We have finally gotten details on the animated Mario movie from Illumination, but we got a release date and a peek at the star-studded cast! Chris Pratt is Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy is Peach, Charlie Day is Luigi, Jack Black is Bowser, Keegan Michael-Key is Toad, Seth Rogan is Donkey Kong, Charles Martinet, the voice that we gamers know as Mario, will also be involved in a surprise cameo.

Splatsville is the name of Splatoon 3‘s environment and will continue the same fun gameplay with new weapons and abilities. The story mode will be called “Return of the Mammalians” and will focus on the return of mammals in the Splatoon world.
