Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Announced for PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC

UPDATE 10/22/21: Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition are now up, giving us a bit more information about the game's release date and price. The Trilogy will release on November 11, and despite a few rumors that said the game would cost upwards of $79.99, we know now, even on next-gen systems the game will cost $59.99 as most full-priced AAA games. There is also a newly released trailer for the collection that shows off the games in action. Additionally, it seems that the Grand Theft Auto III remaster from The Definitive Edition will be playable on PS Now, and The Definitive Edition of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be coming to Xbox Game Pass on release day.

ORIGINAL POST 10/8/21: Ah shit, here we go again! The rumored and leaked Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is finally official. Rockstar Games is celebrating the upcoming 20th Anniversary of the original release of Grand Theft Auto III, the game that cemented the GTA series as a cultural phenomenon and paved the way for future entries to be such blockbuster hits, by releasing a collection of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Being the definitive edition, all three games will have graphical improvements and modern gameplay enhancements, though Rockstar promises to maintain the classic look and feel of the originals. We haven't gotten any gameplay of the remastered games just yet, though more information is said to come in the coming weeks. In preparation for the launch of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, Rockstar will be removing existing versions of the three games from digital storefronts next week.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will release on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Rockstar Games Launcher later this year. The trilogy will also release on iOS and Android in the first half of 2022. In the meantime, Rockstar will be releasing special gear in Grand Theft Auto Online for the anniversary that will be dropping throughout in-game events this Fall.

Really love how they stylized the character models to match their PS2 look, considering animation riggings would need to be redone likely if GTA 5 quality models were brought in, I think the stylized looks was the better choice in terms of cutting costs

I agree. This allows new players, who have only played GTAV, to play the trilogy without having to go too far back in terms of visuals and overall gameplay, while also not requiring the team to work overtime on it while GTA6 is in the oven. Smart move by Rockstar.
