Everything You Need to Know About October State of Play

PlayStation had a brief 20-minute State of Play to show off some upcoming titles and to announce some new games and a Bugsnax DLC. It was brief and did not contain anything mind-blowing but it did show off some upcoming titles that look like they will be quite enjoyable. Here is a list of everything talked about:

  • Deathverse: Let It Die | Spring 2022
  • We are OFK | 2022
  • Bugsnax: The Isle of Bigsnax | Early 2022
  • Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach | December 16
  • Death’s Door | November 23
  • KartRider: Drift | 2022
  • King Of Fighters XV | February 17
  • First Class Trouble | November 2
  • Star Ocean: The Divine Force | 2022
  • Little Devil Inside | TBD

Deathverse: Let it Die appears to be an upcoming third-person battle royale game that will be playable on both PS4 and PS5. We did not get many details on the game as it was more a teaser with a little gameplay added in. We Are OFK is an interactive game where players will play as the indie rock back, OFK, and see the story of how they created their debut EP as well as participate in interactive music videos.

Bugsnax was a launch title for the PS5 and roughly a year later it is getting a DLC. The DLC is called The Isle of Bigsnax and will explore larger Bugsnax as well as add customization options to the Bugsnax themselves in the form of hats. If that was not exciting for you, you are also finally given your own hut that you can fully customize. Bugsnax: The Isle of Bigsnax will release in Early 2022 and will be free to those who own the game.

We got a more in-depth look at Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, the first-person installment of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. It showed off a lot of gameplay ahead of its December 16th release date but no specific details on if it is more story-driven or more of a survival-like game similar to the other installments.

KartRider: Drift is a free-to-play racing game that very much mirrors the successful Mario Kart franchise in style as well as gameplay. There is no exact release date for this title but it is expected to release sometime in 2022.

First Class Trouble is, to make a fair comparison, a more realistic version of Among Us. You can play as a Resident ("crewmate") or a Humanoid ("imposter") as you either try to complete tasks or eliminate all of the Residents without being detected. First Class Trouble will be free to all PlayStation Plus subscribers from November 4th to December 6th.

This was a short and simple showcase of some upcoming titles with some intriguing announcements. There were a few interesting rumors that started floating around in the days before this State of Play, the most exciting of them stated that PlayStation is working on reviving two big PlayStation franchises. The two likely possibilities would be a remaster of inFamous and Sly Cooper. While none of these big rumors appeared in today's showcase, it's safe to say there will be another State of Play soon.
