Ten Most Played Games on the PlayStation 5

The PlayStation 5 has turned one year old today and to celebrate the anniversary, Jim Ryan, President & CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, took to the PlayStation blog to share some insights into what happened in the first year of the PlayStation 5.

To start off, PlayStation 5 has been the home for some amazing exclusives such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Returnal, and Deathloop. In 2021, Sony has also acquired Bluepoint Games, Firesprite, Housemarque, and Nixxes. Gamers from around the world have played more than 4.6 billion hours on the PlayStation 5. Based on those gameplay hours, these are the ten most played games on the PlayStation 5:

  • Fortnite
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • FIFA 21
  • NBA 2K21
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  • Destiny 2
  • MLB The Show 21
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Demon’s Souls
  • NBA 2K22

It’s no surprise that sports games are on the list with NBA having two titles in the top ten. Free-to-play games like Fortnite and Destiny 2 are also obvious titles. Interestingly, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla makes the list probably due to the fact that the game is so expansive. It’s also great to see PlayStation exclusives like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls make the list too.

PlayStation 5 had a great first year, and even with chip shortages and scalpers making the console hard to acquire, the system is well on its way to being another solid generation for PlayStation. Jim Ryan shares that there are more than 25 titles in development under the PlayStation Studios banner. Meaning there’s plenty of unannounced exclusives on the horizon. What did you think of the games on the list? Any games you’re surprised to see so highly ranked on the most played games list? Let us know down in the comments!
