Ever wonder what would happen if you pit Batman against Shaggy? Well, now you can find out in Warner Bros’ new game, MultiVersus. If you’ve had your ear to the ground in the gaming world, chances are you will have seen some leaked information about this game already. This platform fighter, reminiscent of Super Smash Bros (I suppose calling the game Warner Bros Brawl was a missed opportunity), features a sizable roster of easily recognizable characters from WB’s most popular IPs including but not limited to the DC Universe and Game of Thrones. These are the confirmed characters at the time of announcement:

  • Arya Stark (Game of Thrones)
  • Batman (DC Universe)
  • Bugs Bunny (Looney Toons)
  • Finn the Human (Adventure Time)
  • Garnet (Steven Universe)
  • Harley Quinn (DC Universe)
  • Jake the Dog (Adventure Time)
  • Reindog (Original Charcter)
  • Shaggy (Scooby Doo)
  • Steven Universe (Steven Universe)
  • Superman (DC Universe)
  • Tom and Jerry (Tom and Jerry)
  • Wonder Woman (DC Universe)

More characters will be added to the roster soon, but those are the thirteen so far who you can take into battle in any of the game’s various maps like the Batcave or Jake and Finn’s Treefort. As an added bonus, the characters will be voiced by actors that players of each fandom will recognize like Kevin Conroy as Batman and Maisie Williams as Arya Stark.

MultiVersus has three modes, a 2v2 co-op-focused experience, a 1v1 duel, and a 4 player free-for-all. You can play MultiVersus online with other players in Ranked Competitive or locally with friends thanks to couch co-op. If you want to stand out against the crowd, you will be happy to know that the game also has customization options with each character having different costume variants along with a customizable perk loadout.

MultiVersus is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2022. You can head on over to the game’s official site to sign up for the playtests coming prior to launch. Along with the free-to-play price tag, MultiVersus is also cross-platform, meaning you can not only play with your friends on other platforms but also switch over to a different platform yourself and keep progressing with the same account.
