The Division Universe is expanding. Following the recent resurgence of The Division 2, Ubisoft has announced that new DLC content for the game was on the way.  Today they provided an update on not just The Division 2, but the future of the aptly named The Division Universe as well.

Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland is a free-to-play game from Red Storm studio set in The Division Universe. Red Storm, having previously worked on The Division and The Division 2, have lots of experience working on Tom Clancy games and their new game will be a standalone game that doesn’t require prior knowledge of the series to be played. Heartland is slated to release late 2021 or early 2022 on consoles, PC, and cloud streaming platforms. You can sign-up for access to the playtest by clicking here.

Ubisoft also gave an update on other projects as well. A few years ago, the film adaptation of The Division was announced and thanks to the combined effort of Ubisoft Film & TV and Netflix, the movie is still in production. The film is set to star Jake Gyllenhall and Jessica Chastain with Rawson Marshall Thurber signed on as director.

That is still a while away, but from now until the release of The Division movie, we have Heartland, the untitled The Division mobile game, and Tom Clancy’s The Division novel to look forward to. More details about the mobile game will come at a later date and the novel, from Ubisoft’s publishing partner Aconyte, tells a new story set after the events of The Division 2 and explores how the different regions of the United States were impacted by the outbreak on Black Friday.
