Battlefield 2042 is Coming to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC in October

After spending the last two iterations in the past, the Battlefield series is stepping into the future with Battlefield 2042. In Battlefield 2042 the United States and Russia are on the brink of war following decades of extreme weather events and resource conflicts. Proxy wars have caused combat veterans to be displaced, but that won’t stop them from using their skills to fight for the future. The high octane reveal trailer showed off the game’s diverse maps, drivable vehicles, and dynamic battle conditions.

This year, Battlefield is going bigger than ever. According to the game’s official site, Battlefield 2042 will have 7 vast globe-spanning maps with Conquest and Breakthrough game modes playable with up to 128 players. The game will feature a wide range of customizable weapons, gadgets, and vehicles. While on the battlefield, can summon a robotic dog to assist in combat, equip a grappling hook, or put on a wingsuit as shown in the trailer. Just like previous Battlefield titles, there will be four classes for squad members to choose from, though they are now called Specialists. Each Specialist class has a unique Speciality and Trait.

EA and DICE are taking the live service approach to Battlefield 2042. It’s unclear if that means the game will be free-to-play like Call of Duty: Warzone, but they do plan to have seasonal content drops, with each season lasting around three months. This also means every season there will be a new Battle Pass with free and paid content. In the first year, there will be four seasons, each with its own Battle Pass, four new specialists, and other content.

Get ready to jump into a world transformed when Battlefield 2042 launches on October 22 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game will be capped at 64 max players and will have reduced map sizes. Despite the fact that DICE is building out the backstory for this world, the game will not have a campaign.

Battlefield 2042 will have three editions: Standard, Gold, and Ultimate. Pre-ordering any edition will give you the Baku ACB-90 Epic Melee Takedown Knife, Mr. Chompy Epic Weapon Charm, Landfall Player Card, Old Guard Player Tag, and early access to the Open Beta. Pre-ordering the Gold and Ultimate editions will also give you early access to the game launch on October 15 along with other bonuses. Click here to check out the bombastic reveal trailer. The gameplay reveal has been dated for June 13, likely during the Xbox & Bethesda games showcase at E3. More information after that will be shown during EA Play in July. Let us know what your favorite moment from the trailer was down in the comments.

The "only in Battlefield" jet sequence was a great call back. Only the OGs remember that moment.

Totally agree! I loved that moment as well. Lot of fan service in the reveal trailer overall.
