Dying Light 2 is 500 Hours Long

UPDATE 01/10/2022: We have one final update regarding the length of the game. This time, in an easy-to-understand graphic that avoids any confusion. As the image shows, it will take around 20 hours to finish the campaign in Dying Light 2: Stay Human. If you have an interest in completing side quests along with the main objectives, Techland estimates it will take you around 80 hours to finish the game. Lastly, for those who really want to get lost in The City, it will take 500 hours to complete the game.

ORIGINAL 01/08/2022: Dying Light 2 is approaching its latest release date (with no signs of a further delay) which means that the drip-feeding of teasers and information is starting once more. The official Dying Light game Twitter account shared an interesting statistic today that it takes 534 hours to walk from Warsaw to Madrid. And that it takes 500 hours to complete Dying Light 2.

To fully complete Dying Light 2 Stay Human, you’ll need at least 500 hours—almost as long as it would take to walk from Warsaw to Madrid!#DyingLight2 #stayhuman pic.twitter.com/Sk3KFpRJoA

Needless to say, this news has been taken for face value and gamers are up in arms at the game’s seemingly ridiculous length. The backlash caused the Dying Light 2 team to elaborate that the 500-hour estimate is only for those who want to fully complete the game. They added:

500 hours is related to maxing out the game – finishing all the quests, endings, and exploring every part of the world, but a regular player should finish the story + side quests and do quite a lot of exploring in less than 100 hours, so don’t worry!

According to How Long to Beat metrics, the first Dying Light game takes 17.5 hours to beat and 55 hours to complete. Just by these metrics alone, the sequel is a much bigger game. This gives validity to the claims Techland made late last year when the game was delayed out of its December release window.
