Call of Juarez Review in 2026

The February game on our retrospective review podcast, as voted by the subscribers, is Call of Juarez, the Western first-person shooter from Polish developer Techland. Sri Kandula, Nick Sivak, and Austin Perkins have played through the 15-episode campaign and have a lot to say about the game. The gameplay of Call of Juarez is an early sign of the physicality of Techland’s later games like Dead Island and Dying Light, but the 2006 game is held back by a poorly paced narrative, clunky gameplay mechanics, and a handful of glitches.

As always, the first twenty minutes of the podcast are spoiler-free, giving you surface-level impressions on Call of Juarez. But stick around for our in-depth discussion as we break down everything from the character writing to release timing. The full episode of Retro Grade is available now on YouTube. New episodes will be released monthly, so be sure to subscribe to vote on the future titles. The next review will be on Life is Strange, so we’ll see you in Arcadia!
