The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition Announced for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC
On November 11, 2011, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was first released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC to critical acclaim. Widely considered one of the most iconic games of all time, Skyrim has since appeared on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and even Amazon Alexa. This year marks the 10 year release anniversary for the game and to celebrate Bethesda Game Studios has some big plans, including a re-release.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition will be available on November 11 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One but with backwards compatibility on next-gen systems. This Anniversary Edition comes bundled with the full game along with the enhancements from the Special Edition, all three DLC packs (Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn), and 500 unique pieces of Creation Club content. This Creation Club content includes quests, dungeons, bosses, weapons, spells, and more. This new edition also adds a Fishing mechanic into the game for the first time.
The celebrations don’t end there. On November 11, the official Bethesda YouTube and Twitch channels will be streaming The London Symphony Orchestra and London Voices Choir playing the music of Skyrim from the Alexandra Palace Theatre. Lastly, there is The Skyrim Museum. This is a place dedicated to all the Skyrim-inspired fan creations, from cosplay to artwork. Despite the game being advertised for the latest generation of consoles, it is not known at this time if this will come with any visual upgrades or, in the case of the PlayStation 5, if it will have any DualSense integration. Additionally, even though The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition was released on the Nintendo Switch, the Anniversary Edition skips the console this time around.
