One of the biggest surprises of The Game Awards is actually one that a lot of players may have missed. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game was announced during the pre-show for PC and ninth-generation gaming consoles. This new asymmetrical multiplayer game, which aims to be an authentic gaming experience based on the cult classic 1974 film of the same name, is being developed by Gun Interactive and Sumo Nottingham. Ronnie Hobbs, Creative Director at Gun Interactive, had the following to say about The Texas Chain Saw Massacre:

It’s no secret that the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is probably my favorite horror film ever created. Having the chance to really dive into the world of this IP with the team from Gun and working with Sumo to bring this vision to life has been almost surreal. I can’t wait for everyone to see more of what we’re doing.

Darren Campion, the Executive Producer at Sumo Nottingham, added:

We’re incredibly excited to finally reveal what we’ve been working on here at Sumo Nottingham. To be the first to truly bring the world of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to life was an opportunity that could not be passed. The cult classic has been terrifying and spellbinding people for over 40 years and we’re thrilled with how the game is developing, we cannot wait for fans old and new to become part of this truly authentic experience.

If there were ever a developer fit for an adaptation of this iconic horror franchise, it has to be Gun Interactive. After all, this will be their second film-to-game adaptation after Friday the 13th: The Game. There is no release date for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre at this time, however, the game’s social media pages are up and you can follow them now to stay up to date on the game.
