Three New Assassin’s Creed Games Announced at UbiForward

We all knew there were going to be some nice surprises for Assassin’s Creed fans in today’s Ubisoft Forward, but who could have thought there would be not one, not two, but three new Assassin’s Creed games on top of the already confirmed Assassin’s Creed Mirage? Not me.

To manage expectations, we don’t know a whole lot about each of these games past their setting but we do have an idea for the new live service model that the series is adopting moving forward. Before we get to that, we have Assassin’s Creed Mirage, a game that started out as DLC for Valhalla but blossomed into a standalone title. This story will follow a young Basim Ibn Ishaq in Baghdad as he learns to be an assassin under the leadership of Roshan voiced by Emmy-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo. The game is expected to release sometime next year.

Then we have the codenames. Which is what the future games in the series will be referred to as after Mirage. First, there’s Codename Jade, a mobile game set in Ancient China. But before you get upset, we also have Codename Red, a new flagship Assassin’s Creed game set in feudal Japan from the team behind Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and Codename Hexe, a very different type of AC game with witchy vibes from the team behind Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

If you’re wondering what all this codename stuff is, that’s where Project Infinity comes in. Infinity will sort of act as the multiplayer live service hub for the upcoming titles. To put it simply, imagine Destiny 2-style main area that connects players together with new content updating to your animus as codenames. This new base game and the codenames attached to it are “on the horizon” and considering that Mirage is dated for 2023, it’s safe to assume we are still a couple of years from the launch of Infinity.

There’s a lot more in store for the Assassin’s Creed series from a behind-the-scenes documentary celebrating the 15-year anniversary that will be released on YouTube to the just-announced live-action Netflix series that will come out at a much later date. There was much more discussed during the full Ubisoft Forward and you can watch Alexa and I react to it all live in the video below.
