The Crew Motorfest has the Biggest Launch in Series History

It’s been one week since The Crew Motorfest was released globally and Ubisoft had exciting news about the latest entry in their premier racing series. The Crew was originally released in 2014 and boasted a scaled-down United States for players to street race across. The Crew 2, which followed four years later, shifted the focus to American motorsports, giving players the freedom to not just race on the street but through the air and on water too.

The Crew Motorfest retains the land, air, and water gameplay while taking heavy inspiration from the Forza Horizon series to create a car festival experience set in Hawaii. Ubisoft shared in a press release this morning that the game had the best first week for the franchise in terms of total unit sell-through, overall consumer spending, and season pass adoption rate.

We are thrilled by the enthusiastic response which has broken all franchise records, and we want to thank our community for their incredible support. Launch is only the beginning: we have planned regular updates with new themes and experiences, and very strong post-launch support with a mix of free and paid content, for a long time to come.

According to the press release, more than 40 million players have joined the franchise since 2014, breaking the monthly average user records in July of this year, more than five years after The Crew 2 launch. Motorfest allows players to import their car collection from the second game and, so far, more than 42 million vehicles imported from The Crew 2 to the new game.

The Crew Motorfest also is the highest-rated title in the franchise being received positively by critics and players alike. I reviewed The Crew Motorfest for Respawn Station and I shared much of the same opinions on the game. I said it was a confident racing game packed with content and rated it a 7 out of 10. Which is “Good” on our scale.
