Comments Off on Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut is Coming This August

It has been nearly a year since Ghost of Tsushima released to critical acclaim on the PlayStation 4 and the game is now making its way onto the PlayStation 5 as well with Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut. This updated version of the game will come bundled with the original game, all previously released DLC, and a new chapter to Jin’s story and community-requested features.

Let’s start with Iki Island, which, just like the island of Tsushima, is a real place that was also invaded during this time in history. Join Jin as he investigates rumors of Mongol presence on this neighboring land which leads him down the dark parts of his own past as the fate of the island develops deeply personal stakes. This new content will be playable at the start of Act 2 in the main game storyline.

Even though the Director’s Cut will release on both PS4 and PS5, on the PlayStation 5, the game will have certain upgrades such as the use of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on the DualSense controller. The added power of the next-gen hardware will have decreased load times, enhanced 3D audio, and dynamic 4K resolution while targeting 60fps. Additionally, the PS5 version of the game will offer lip sync for Japanese voice-over for players who want a more authentic experience.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Details

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut will be out on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on August 20. Along with Trophies from the main game, the Director’s Cut will also have new Trophies that come with the Iki Island content. Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, the popular multiplayer mode that released post-launch, will be getting a new game mode, though details on that mode are not yet known. If you already own the game on the PlayStation 4, you can transfer your save to the PS5 and continue where you left off.

The Director’s Cut will set you back $59.99 on PS4 and $69.99 on the PS5. Pre-ordering the game will get you the digital mini-soundtrack, consisting of tracks from the main game and the Iki Island expansion, and a digital artbook. Pre-ordering on the PlayStation Store will get you immediate access to the PS4 version of the base game. If you already own Ghost of Tsushima, you can upgrade to the Director’s Cut for $19.99 and if you buy the PS4 version of the Director’s Cut and later get a PlayStation 5, you can upgrade to the PS5 version for an additional $9.99. Lastly, for $29.99, players who own the original game on PS4 can upgrade to the PS5 version directly.
