Comments Off on Maid of Sker is Coming to Next-Gen Consoles Next Week

The first-person horror game, Maid of Sker, from Wales Interactive, is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with enhanced features. Originally released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, Maid of Sker has received lots of critical acclaims. Set in a remote hotel with a dark past, the game is inspired by an old Welsh tale of Elisabeth Williams.

With the new console release, Maid of Sker is packing a ton of improvements. For starters, the game has new game modes that feature a whole new set of gameplay mechanics. Maid of Sker has always been a survival horror game where the only option when you saw an enemy was to hide. Now, the prey becomes the hunter, as the developers release Challenge Modes that turn the game into a first-person shooter. There are 4 Challenge Modes coming to the game, The Long Night, Axe of Kindness, Nightmare at the Hotel, and In Darkness. While they all give you the option to fight back against the game’s haunting enemies, they also come with their own set of objectives and restrictions. The FPS Challenge Modes will be available as a free update on May 26 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Along with the new modes, the game will also be getting performance enhancements on next-gen consoles. On both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X the game can be played in a Fidelity mode, that targets 4K at 30fps, or Performance Mode, which aims for 1440p at 60 fps. On Xbox Series S, the game will run at 1080p at 30fps. Needless to say, all next-gen versions will feature quicker load times and improved texture resolution. On the PS5 specifically, Maid of Sker takes advantage of the DualSense controller’s Adaptive Triggers, giving each gun a different feel in the hand. On PC the game is also getting a new release on the Microsoft Store which will feature uncapped FPS and resolution. The Windows 10 release will also support Xbox Play Anywhere.

This enhanced version of Maid of Sker will release on May 26 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Click here to watch the new trailer showcasing its next-gen update and new FPS Challenge Modes. For players who already of the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the Challenge Modes will come as a free update.
