Before we talk about Lumentale: Memories of Trey, we must first turn the clock back. In 2021, Weedle Team released a Pokémon fan game called Xenoverse: Per Aspera Ad Astra. Available for free in English and Italian, the game took the Pokémon formula and added new creatures to catch, 50 hours of gameplay, new Trainers, new game features, and more, all set in the Eldiw region.
From the team behind Xenoverse: Per Aspera Ad Astra, under the Beehive Studios name, comes a new and original monster-collecting RPG called LumenTale: Memories of Trey. Set in the Italian-inspired land of Talea, play as Trey, a young hero who wakes up with no memory of his past. Explore the world, collect creatures, and find out who Trey really is.
Key Features of LumenTale:
- Travel an expansive world: Journey across the rich and cultural world of Talea, filled with secrets, quests, and regions as unique and diverse as the Animon you encounter.
- Collect and train Animon: Discover and capture 140 Animon, each with elemental affinities and emotional attributes that can offer advantages in battle.
- Unique art cards: Increase the chances of finding your perfect Animon, or the rare Lost variants, to build the ultimate team. Trade these locally or online through the Animon Trade Station
- Cooking and crafting: Rest at fountains throughout the world to cook food from found and bought recipes, and craft resources to support your journey.
- The Anispace: Train your Animon in the Anispace, a dedicated area offering a change of pace from adventure. Craft or purchase furniture from local vendors and customise it to make the perfect home for your creatures.
LumenTale started out as a Kickstarter project in 2023, where, with the support of nearly 3000 backers, they made well over their €75,000 goal. In 2025, Team17 backed the team as a publisher for the upcoming release. LumenTale: Memories of Trey is coming to Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on May 26. You can play the demo on Steam now.
