The summer of gaming is off with a bang! Today was the live kickoff event for Summer Game Fest 2021. While we went in with no real expectations as we co-streamed the event on our Twitch, we were blown away by some of these announcements. Geoff made sure to keep things moving quickly and they really packed a lot into the roughly 2-hour event. Here’s the full list of the world premiere games and trailers we got to see during the live kickoff event:

Click on any of the titles above to see their new trailers. Besides these world premieres, there was plenty of other news announced. There’s a lot of information to sift through here, starting with the Borderlands not-spin-off title, Wonderlands. This standalone game, with a star-studded cast of Andy Samberg, Wanda Sykes, and more, is inspired by the popular D&D DLC from Borderlands 2. Activision also dropped the gameplay trailer for the new season of Call of Duty: Cold War / Warzone, and announced the World Series of Warzone, a new competition for Warzone coming on June 22-23

Along with upcoming games, they also, of course, announced a few game updates we’ll be seeing in the coming months. Among Us is still going strong with their upcoming updates featuring a Hide & Seek mode, new colors, new maps, new visor customizations, and more. Escape from Tarcov will be getting a new map coming soon and SMITE: Battleground of Gods is turning upside down with new content in their Stranger Things crossover.

The Summer Game Fest also showcased Prime Matter, a brand new publishing label from Koch Media that will be releasing 12 upcoming games including GunGrave G.O.R.E., Dolmen, Iron Harvest, King’s Bounty II, Echoes of the End as well as Payday 3 and Painkiller. More information will be announced tomorrow from this publisher.

New World will be coming out later this summer, if you want more information about this MMORPG be sure to check out the New World deep dive tomorrow, June 11, at 11am ET. Psyonix and the Fast Saga are collaborating once again and bringing a few new cars to Rocket League including the new rocket-powered Pontiac Ferraro that you’ll be able to get on June 17 in time for the release of F9.

The indie open-world adventure game, Sky: Children of Light will be coming to Nintendo Switch on July 6 and their new season, Le Petit Prince will begin soon after. We also got a sneak preview at Overwatch 2 which showcased the updated designs for Baptiste and Sombra. We also saw some highlights from the Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance gameplay which releases June 22, 2021.

Paladins will be getting a crossover with RoosterTeeth’s animated show Gen:LOCK in July 2021 that will feature a bunch of new skins and more.

Giancarlo Esposito stopped by to chat and talk about his character in Far Cry 6, Anton Castillo, though no new information was shared about the game. For more on Far Cry 6, check out our article on the new release date and crazy Collector’s Edition.

Fall Guys will have a new costume for your bean so you can dress yourself up as 2B from NieR: Automata. Not the first character you’d expect to be dressing your bean up as, but an interesting surprise for sure.

New developers, Deviation Games, which was started by the creator of Call of Duty: Zombies, Jason Blundell, who has also brought in Dave Anthony from Treyarch. Their goal was to deviate from the big franchise and bring forth new creative ideas. Nothing to show yet, but they have spent the last year bringing together a team that they are excited to create with. The company will be partnering with PlayStation, which only creates more excitement around the quality of the game they will be able to produce.

While we did get a peek at this gory multiplayer FPS, you can check out more about the game at the Back 4 Blood PvP Showcase on June 13, 2021. There will also be extended gameplay footage from Evil Dead: The Game, which is of course based on The Evil Dead movie series, coming later this year. In the game you’ll be able to play as good or evil, trying to save or destroy the world.

The grand finale was definitely a surprise that not many were expecting. What a way to start off the summer. After a long wait and multiple leaks, Elden Ring has an official gameplay trailer and it will release on January 21, 2022.

And this was just the start. Coming up we have Ubisoft this Saturday, Xbox & Bethesda on Sunday, and so much more.
