UPDATE 09/14/2021: In a development update on Twitter, the Dying Light 2 team have announced that the game will be delayed once more. This time the game will be targeting a February 4, 2022 release date. Paweł Marchewka, Techland CEO, had the following to say about the delay:

The team is steadily progressing with the production and the game is nearing the finishing line. The game is complete and we are currently playtesting it. It is by far the biggest and most ambitious project we’ve ever done. Unfortunately, we’ve realized for us to bring the game to the level we envision, we need more time to polish and optimize it.

We are sorry to keep you all waiting a little longer, but we want the game to meet your highest expectations on release and we don’t want to comprise on this.

Paweł Marchewka goes on to say that press and content creators will get their hands on the PC and console versions of the game soon. More updates are to come as we approach the new release date. This new release date puts Dying Light 2: Stay Human at the center of one of the busiest months for games in 2022. We will have to wait and see how that shapes up for all the games slated to come out in that month.

ORIGINAL 05/27/2021: The first Dying Light was a special game when it was released back in 2014, blending the post-apocalyptic genre with parkour. But the developers, understandably so, have been relatively radio silent since they last showed gameplay during E3 2019. So to break the silence, Techland has announced digital events called Dying 2 Know where they can give players information on the current state of the game. Today, we had Episode 1, and here is everything you need to know about it.

Dying Light 2 takes place 20 years after the first game and because of this, you don’t need to have played Dying Light 1 to follow the narrative of the sequel. Aiden Caldwell is a Pilgrim and the protagonist of Dying Light 2. Players take control of Aiden as he searches for someone and uncovers his past. Player choices will fuel Aiden’s journey and decide where it ends up. Dying Light 2 sets you loose on The City, the last bastion of civilization after the Harran virus has destroyed most of the world. And just like in Dying Light 1, monsters are a nuisance during the day, but at night a darker and more powerful threat wakes up.

The developers have also announced the Dying Light 2 contest that invites writers, artists, and more to create content inside the Dying Light universe. There are prizes for the contest including monetary rewards and free content. If you still haven’t played Dying Light 1, then the Platinum Edition is perfect for you, offering all previous content from the first game for a new low price available now on the Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, and Steam.
