After 14 years, James Bond returns to the world of video games with 007: First Light from IO Interactive. The Hitman developers have taken their signature puzzle design and top-notch visuals and put a globe-trotting blockbuster spin on them. Follow Bond at the start of his journey to become a Double O and gain infamy at MI6. There are 17 chapters in total, and here they all are:
- Against the Odds
- In His Majesty’s Secret Service
- The Needle’s Eye
- The Heart of the Matter
- A New Home
- A Night Out
- A Matter of Considerable Delicacy
- All the Time in the World
- Out of the Ashes
- The Past Never Dies
- Uninvited
- Knightfall
- Going Old School
- Time to Die
- Man of the Hour
- Wave of the Future
- For England
These chapters will take you roughly 15 hours, though that can extend further based on how you approach each mission. First Light is a strong start to IO’s new franchise, delivering a fun gameplay loop with a lot of polish. In my time with the game, the only issue I have to report is one crash.
Whether this will continue to have eventual sequels, however, is up in the air. First Light is technically a self-published game from IO, but future entries will go through MGM’s new owner, Amazon. My full review for 007: First Light will be out soon. Until then, be sure to tune into the Save Slot podcast.
